Our History
February 2010
Registered the business with a small group of highly skilled employees.
- Started development on our first project – the Bumper Guard
August 2011
Asked to develop and mass produce a heavy duty dual cab mining tray for use in a fleet application.
September 2011
We moved into our small factory on Rudman Parade, Burleigh Heads and started manufacturing our first heavy duty steel trays.
January 2012
Asked to develop a ROPS (Roll Over Protection System) for the Landcruiser 70 series, single cab. Our research established the lack of an Australian Standard for ROPS structures and led us to carry out extensive industry investigations to find a “best practice” for an effective safety structure.
Taking on board international standards and “best practice” of well-designed safety structures, we formulated our “Sovereign ROPS criteria”. After we created our ROPS design parameter, we modelled our first CAD design and carried out subsequent structural computer analysing of our design and its performance, meeting our “Sovereign ROPS criteria”.
FEA (Finite Element Analyses) results at hand enabled us to fine-tune and improve our design structure until an independent third party design office certified our work that it complies with our established safety load criteria.
November 2012
Started a development program to add a number of new products to our ever growing product list. These products have been designed to complement our current products and also grow our 4WD accessory program with other unique locally designed and manufactured product solutions. Over the next few months we will add the following products to our range:
- “Steel tradie tray” a heavy duty steel tray with in a lower price bracket.
- A real heavy duty alloy tray with the same proven design features as the HD steel tray.
- Under tray, draw out and above tray toolboxes, etc – all products from the tray range.
- Alloy side-steps and a unique modular rack system for dual-cab vehicles for our accessory range.
Today
Today we now cater for the main single-cab ROPS vehicles used in the mining industry. We are very confident that our structures are sound engineered solutions, meeting “best practice principals”. Occupants of vehicles with our ROPS structures can travel with peace of mind that they are well protected for unfortunate driving events.

Company Profiles
Family oriented co-founding directory, Alexander Baumann has been in the automotive industry for more than 16 years.
His persistence and dedication to developing leading-edge benchmark products has helped him create value for his customers and provide them with attractive, unique solutions.
Sandy’s specialities include production and workflow management and is highly skilled in all aspects of lean manufacturing, troubleshooting and steel fabrication.
His education includes Cert III in Engineering, Metal Fabrication Heavy/Boiler Making, Cert IV in Competitive Manufacturing and a Diploma of Business, Frontline Management as well as advanced ROBOT Programming and basic robotic maintenance.
Growing up in an old family business involved in the sheet-metal industry in Switzerland, Henri completed his formal education at the Trade College, city of Bern.
Henri backpacked to Australia for a working holiday, met his future wife, returned to Switzerland for further education graduating with a master diploma in coach-building/sheet metal work.
His experience extends to management roles in the Middle East and Africa and running a small Gold Coast based business in the automotive industry, which grew steadily over 25 years until OE supply arrangements followed.
The design and manufacturing activities produced for most of the key car and truck companies and Henri is now proud to be part of a new era with the Sovereign Design Group, working with the core group of the old committed team.
